The John Brady Family<\/p>\n

John Brady was born 14 July 1864 in County Cavan, Ireland<\/a> [son of Thomas Brady & Catherine Gibney]. In January 1895 in New Jersey,\u00a0 he married Mary McCartin.<\/p>\n

In 1900 John & Mary Brady were living in East Orange, Essex, New Jersey<\/a>. John was a coachman. His brother, Bartholomew, who lived with them, was a policeman. In 1910 & 1920 they were in the same location. In 1920 John was a taxi driver. His sons were chauffeurs. In 1930 the family was on McKinley Avenue in East Orange.<\/p>\n

John Brady’s obituary:<\/p>\n

“John Brady of 165 McKinley Ave., East Orange, founder of Brady Taxi service, East Orange, now owned by his son, Bernard I. Brady, died Thursday a this home of a brief illness.\u00a0 He was 97.\u00a0 Born in County Cavan, Ireland, he came to East Orange 75 years ago.\u00a0 Mr. Brady began his business in 1894 with a livery stable in back o fhis home in Amherst St. Among the passengers his rigs carried from Brick Church Station to their homes were Louis Bamberger and Felix Fuid. He bought his first motor cab, a Cadillac in 1912 and his last horse died in 1920.\u00a0 He leaves also his wife Mrs. Mary McCartin Brady tow other sons, Thomas J., a retired east Orange patrolman and John E., both of East Orange; two grandchilodren and five great – grandchildren.\u00a0 The funeral will be Monday from the rank J. Codey & Sons Funeral Home, 69 High Street, Orange, with a Mass at 9 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians church, East Orange.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
